[atlarge-discuss] Motions, Tabling, Call the Question....
@Large and Panelists;
There may need to be some clarification as to terminology in use for
panel motions, etc. "To Table" a Motion means to put it aside for later
consideration, effectively postponing it. This is a parliamentary way
of evading action or, as with the US Congress at times, killing it all
together. It would appear that some motions in the Panel have been made
and mistakenly called "Tabled" when the more correct term might be
"Called to Question", which means put forward for immediate vote.
If someone with a more recent edition of Robert's rules of Order would
care to add to my understanding, please feel free to do so.
