[atlarge-discuss] Panel Meetings
Abel,
Most organizations pick a time to meet and conduct a teleconference if a
physical meeting isn't possible. You have had experience with the WHOIS Committee
teleconferences, and you are certainly aware that almost every ICANN-related
group, constituency, Council, etc. functions in this manner.
An agenda is established well in advance of the meeting which allows the
"common folk" to write to their representatives on agenda-related matters, and
decisions are made at these sessions (which are often mp3 recorded).
Is there any particular reason why this group of panelists can't function in
a similar manner with regularly scheduled monthly meetings? If teleconference
fees are a problem, a cyber-meeting could certainly be held on an IRC basis.
Why repeat a process used by the last two panels that failed to produce
results? If a member can't attend any given session, they may always exercise
their right of proxy.
