Membership fees at this point in time are inappropriate.  Our first goal
should be to include as many individuals as possible in the process and
define/document the organization.  AFTER we have a solid organization to
offer potential new members, perhaps some membership fee might be
instituted at the beginning of some calendar year.  Right now, focus on
constructing the organization and move ahead, do not digress into
arguments over making some people pay for the privilege of
participating.

Well... is going to be very difficult create a standard measure for the
membership fee.

And all the reasoning exposed by Bruce is ok, ... we can´t expend much
time
in the discussion of this point, cause is relevant an ending for the
continuos and support for the atlarge community.

Mayve we can stablish three kind of fees, ... and NO giving special
privileges or preferences to the "contributors", just giving the same
answers for all the community.

At last, finally all of us know how the fee will impact our personal
economy.

What do you think?

guess, when it comes down to it, I would most favor the combination of
sliding-scale dues and a hardship process, both implemented with the
safeguards I noted above.
