General Information :
The European Council of Applied Sciences and Engineering is inviting
entries for The European Information Society Technologies Prize 1999,
the closing date for which is 18 May 1999.
The theme to which applications should conform this year is "Novel
products with a high information technologies content and evident
market potential". There will be up to three Grand Prizes of 200,000
euro each together with the European IST Trophy and up to 25 Winner
Prizes of 5000 euro each.
The selection criteria include technical excellence, innovative
content, potential for improving competitiveness, potential market
value, capacity to generate employment by opening up new markets or
starting up new enterprises, contribution towards extending the
acceptance and understanding of information technology by society, and
anticipated societal benefits.
The European IST Prize is organised by the Information Society
Programme of the European Commission, DG XIII, jointly with the
European Council of Applied Sciences and Engineering.
