[ICANN-EU] Prefered access for ICANN nominees: we need clear rules for the election

Dear Andrew,

I don´t know why Judith Oppenheimer distributes these mails, but I must
agree. It seems not to be a fair election, at least for all At-Large-member
nominated candidates, when all candidates must look for two places while the
ICANN nominated candidates have five reserved places on the ballot.

I prosume, that most members and candidates even don´t know exactly, which
aims and duties ICANN has and and who had fixed the rules of election of the
board.

So I think, it would be good for all members, if we would have in the
elected board of ICANN some members, who are also experienced in
understanding and creating legal rules. What I see since yesterday in the
current correspondance, strengthens my conviction that we should start with
clear and simple rules, not only for this election.

It would be very helpfull and we all would feel in a win-win-situation, when
you could find a solution for these questions of many european members. I
think, ICANN should start with a fair election.

Best regards

Christian

Did you have any doubts that this is *not* a fair election?

Hello Andrew and fellows,

and how do you know that the Nom-Com has the same thoughts as other groups
in the Internet have? Does a government (whereas ICANN isn't a government,
OK) also choose different parties which may be elected and some which
mustn't?

The problem or better issue we (or better I :) are (am) thinking about here
in the EU is if it wouldn't be better to have direct from the community
supportet candidates.
The case that we have got now x candidates nominated by the nom-com, y
candidates nominated by organizations or other people from Europe and z
people who nominated themself.
I personally don't find the person which I support in the x candidates of
the Nom-Com but for sure in the x and y people nominated by the
'Internetizens'.
The problem which arises now is that the x candidates have got already a
seat in the 'electable' role whereas the y and z-people have to take the
disadvantage that there are only 2 more spaces.

So why do the people nominated by the commitee have a better status as the
ones nominated by the commiunity? Is this then a fair election if not
everyone get's the same chance to become a member of the board?

so far my thoughts ...
