My first impression (documented in web discussion at Heise) was: Why do they
think, Europe is unable to choose there own candidates?
After a kindly discussion with Andrew I accepted the situation as currently
unchangable.
IMHO (as expressed here some hours ago) this situation give the self-nom
candidates on the ballot more chances to win against the nom-com ones.
The candidates who did not reach the ballot itself would probably fail under
a modified procedere.
So I can live with this situation.
>2) Should the ICANN be democratic?
Difficult question. The major part of the directors board should be
democratic indeed. But there are a lot of questions which should be handled
more professionally. This scheme is similar to most democractic governments
where the lower bureaucraty is made of tenures.

In the same way (without nom-com). The people are aware of ICANN@Large now.
