Alright, one final comment: ICANN's budget lists a total of US$ 1.020.000
for fiscal year 2000/01 for meeting expenses of the directors and similar
costs (mainly for the conferences themself). I have no doubts that the
usual expenses will be paid for (but had no chance to test it myself, I'm
afraid). Alas, you need some steady income because ICANN means about 2
months of work per year at the very least.

Well, in my personal view the position of the directors towards industrial
influence is very lax, they take more of a US view here. According to the
rules the board must be told that sort of payment. But considering that
many directors had or have posts in the industry, nobody will mind, I
guess. Apart from that, ICANN does not accept strings tied to donations
(then again that is probably what ex-chancellor Kohl will also tell you if
you ask him...)

With this problem you will just have to trust your candidate, I propose.
