I have to disagree. The candidates have agreed to be candidates for the 
ICANN directory, not for an advisory board. Those who did not take part in 
the self nomination did so because they did not want to become ICANN 
directors (or thought they would not succeed anyway, so why bother trying), 
but they never said that they would not be willing to become member of an 
advisory board.

Therefore, if we want to have something like an official advisory board 
with only a limited number of members, I do not see why only candidates 
should be allowed to become members.

OTOH, I am not sure if we really need such an advisory board.
