Re: [ICANN-EU] The real challenge for all of us as candidates

Thanks to have mentioned me :-) I think that about IT ccTLD the main
problem was this: after the opening to all EU citizens and firms, for about
one month, only who had got a VAT code was allowed to register IT domains.
When I searched to see if it was available, I saw It was; but I didn't like
to ask for (and pay for :-) a VAT code just to register a domain. When
registration was available for all, my surname was already taken... :-( The
worst thing is that the owner doesn't care to develop projects about the
site he registered: he just takes them to resell at high price.
Fortunatly, www.ravanelli.com and www.ravanelli.co.uk are saved :-);
www.ravanelli.net is used by a UK company to resell email address
"@ravanelli.net".
>There is no such thing as a "more legitimate right" to a domain
I agree. If my surname is "Ferrari" and I register ferrari.XX, I have the
same right of the glorious Red jewel; in this case: first came, first
served and only owner. If I'm Francesco and I register pamelaanderson.com I
can't say I'm in good faith, especially if I provide strange contents...
Another example: in Italy, there's a famous soccer player called Fabrizio
Ravanelli: so, I haven't the right to register fabrizioravanelli.com, but I
think I have the same right to register ravanelli.com, ravanelli.co.uk,
ravanelli.everything :-)
Bye and besy wishes,
Francesco Ravanelli
