I still don't believe, that its basicly a technical problem.
Of course its easyer, to have only one last instance. But so we are at the
same status, like the church 500 years before, when the catholics said
(like they do still): they are the only one and true church.
And the last instance to decide is the only holy pope, who takes the place
of god.
Now we have the only holy root-server controlled by the US-Government.
Of course I understand, they don't like things, to be otherwise.
But have we European to follow this non-democratic authorized leadership
only, cause its the easiest way ?
Why not let the user decide or at least the provider?
I'm sure, there is a way by extending the settings of the TCP-IP-stack, so
you may decide on whom (on which root-server) you want to believe, that has
to tell, which domain-info is right and which not.
Maybe sometimes you will get different results, but thats the same problem,
like you are asking an catholic or an protestant priest for the birth of
Jesus by the virgin.
We have to learn to live with differences like that, -
