Re: [ICANN-EU] LA @large meeting preparation

Dear JDD
Thx for your post. I will try to address it.
At 11:07 15/10/00, you wrote:

- only the ICANN has the list.
- "we are the Members" means that you, me, belong to the @large constituency
and have the right to speak as such. Not the ICANN. Same meaning as
Mirabeau saying "we are the French people". This is the basis of democracy.

Yes the problem is to join the other. This is why the first action point is to
get the ICANN mailing the @large about what is been already achieved and
link every ICANN @large oriented site to their site. BTW people must understand
that election period is over and that the @large ML/sites are cooperating
within
the ICANN as does the DNSO or others.

You know someone is an àlarge because he has a PIN. But it only means
that he has already registered. Everyone who uses the Internet has the right
to be an @large Member: he may become one depending on practicalities.

Again you know it because they have a PIN. Half the people did not received
yet their PIN at the start of the election. You can look into the figures
published
on different sites about the present situation (I did not keep track). Probably
Vittorio knows that. I have personnaly around 12000 mails in 4000 different
domain names and my (singl) PIN does not work !!!

1) This is a pure management issue.
2) please do not confuse ICANN with a government: it is non profit
    association.

This is the purpose of this list. Why we invited Andy in France. Why
we work on priority action points. So we agree.

I agree again. But I will add: for doing what?

The most important/complex issue the world had to face (IP addressing
plan) is to be engaged. The pseudo important TLDs issue is to be
resolved. Who is "us" and what are your propositions? In trying to
lilit myself to the basic (the practical organization of the @large details)
I already have different opinions interfering, so.... :-)

Take care.
