[ICANN-EU] Excessive crosspostings

For your information: Messages which have overly long header fields
are routinely blocked by majordomo (sample included). I'm not going
to approve such messages for forwarding to the list, as I'm
considering them excessive crossposting.

Additionally, someone has asked me whether or not it's sensible to
think about a stricter posting policy, given the rush of
crosspostings in the recent past. I think it is.

Options we have include these:

- Restrict posting to those subscribed to the list. This may help
to cut off threads evolving from such cross-posting. However, it
will also have adverse effects on legitimately cross-posted
  discussions. I'd advise against this.

- Match messages to, say, 10 or 15 addresses in one header, and
block them - with the option to approve messages which look
legitimate. This could easily be implemented, and would have few
effects on legitimate discussions. Additionally, I could still
approve messages which have just collected an impressive number of
CC recipients due to people using group-reply. I'd suggest we
  implement this.

- Block messages crossposted to the domain-policy list. That list
has a "restricted posting" policy anyways, so replying to such
crosspostings won't make any sense for many of the subscribers to
icann-europe. I'd _strongly_ suggest to implement this measure.

Obviously, this won't work against determined noise-makers and
multi-posters, but it may help to make things a bit more difficult
for them. ;-)

"Crocker: Worried that those trying to block the process will do so with
lawsuits, leverage with USG and California government, etc."

Dave,

In over 5 years of these debates, in my opinion, YOU certainly would be in
the
Top 10 People on the net who have assisted in "blocking" these processes.
You
were even singled out in a report to the White House[1]. It is a known fact
that
your brother Steve attended the same High School with Jon Postel and Vint
Cerf.
It is still not clear what your association is with Vint Cerf, who is on the
ICANN
Board.[2]

With this as a background, and assuming you are in agreement that you have
assisted in blocking these processes for years,...Are you saying aboved and
at the ICANN meeting that you now intend to try to block these processes
with legal actions ?....if so, why would you and/or associates do that
?...why
do people like yourself and Vint Cerf participate in forums where people are
trying to expand people's participation while you attempt to block the
process..?
...is this some sort of memorial to Jon Postel ?...who did the same thing...
