Dear all,
I just wanted to point to two new documents.
ICANN ICP-3: A Unique, Authoritative Root for the DNS
(http://www.icann.org/icp/icp-3.htm)
This is the finalized Lynn paper against alternative
roots. By the way: ICP now stands for "Internet Coordination
Policy" instead of "ICANN Corporate Policy". Hmmmm.
Markle Foundation Internet Accountability Report
(http://www.markle.org/news/_news_pressrelease_071001.stm)
(http://www.markle.org/news/InternetAccountability.pdf [4 MB!])
This is a study about the Internet in the view of the
U.S. American public.
It includes a survey involving 200 randomly-selected
Internet experts:
"[...] 30 percent saying 'ICANN considers the public
interest when making its decisions and rules', but with
another 25 percent saying 'the public’s interests are not
adequately taken into account by ICANN.' (As the numbers
suggest, a large share of experts in both cases do not
know enough about the institutions to provide an answer.)"
Best regards,
/// Alexander
