Betreff: [ecdiscuss] short report of the brussels caneu-meeting on July 13, 2001
Hallo,
for all which were not present a very short summary
(which could be corrected and/or completed from everybody)
1.) some 100 registrations were counted, my guess is that almost
the same number of paricipants were at the assembly.
2.) after some intrudactionary speaks we had 4 "discussion-
groups" about
- registration policy
- scope of self regulation
- registry structure
- intellectual property issues
obviously, there were no final decisions, rather recommendations
for future working-groups
3.) from my personal point of view the most importand
recommendation was found at the last point of the agenda
- that until Aug 8, 2001 lawerys and interested parties submitt one
or more proposals how the entity in charge of
"supporting the intruduction of .eu by interested parties of europe"
( I do not recall the exact wordings Clive Stanbrook found) should
be formed.
- from those proposals one will be choosen (if there are more than
one) to go ahead. It is expected that short after the monte-video :-)
meeting of ICANN beginning september there will be an "prolonged"
ec-pop meeting in brussels to confirm the choise.
