Re: [atlarge-discuss] FW: [atlarge-panel] 006 Name - Panel approves Timeline and Schedule

Good morning, Judith and Richard:

    I do agree with Richard's thinking here. There are those who will
correctly name a few brands who gained name recognition by using the .com
suffix (Amazon.com; Pets.com; Hotels.com; etc.) but generally speaking we
know of brands by name and without the TLD suffix (Google; Napster; Expedia;
AOL; Yahoo; Orbitz; etc.). However, I am hard pressed to come up with an
international brandname that includes the .org suffix.

    The argument that we have to use the suffix because it is the only way
to reach us is not really valid. That argument may have some value if we
were to mount a massive TV or print ad campaign where the logo and web
address were to be the only memorable images, but I don't see that happening
in the near future. And, if our exposure is via the internet, a live link or
a bookmark do not absolutely require suffix recognition, although the
presence of the .org TLD will not hurt, and could enhance, our image.
