[atlarge-discuss] 006 Name - Resolution passes on .com extension

Dear Joanna,

I do not like repeating myself and I hope my responses here conclude
the discussion on this subject.

The ballot I sent shows an X next to the word "YES" below a resolution
that *carries* my amendment. Methinks it was quite clear and precise,
leaving no scope for misunderstanding. However, if that did happen, I
withdraw my objection and seek rectification of the ballot.

I understand your viewpoint on the TLD issue and do not feel too
strongly about it to even counter your arguments. However, we all have
views and each is entitled to share them with others, rather than
shove them down their throats. While I do not suggest you have sought
to do so, I was alarmed at the **explanation** put forward by you for
ignoring the amendment I proposed. It seemed very ICANNistic. Please
not that I only registered my objection to the same and not to your
views or you personally.

As a panelist I am no less entitled to put forward my views than you
are. If you believe I must move a separate proposal, it is not I who
seeks to delay through unnecessary procedure. In the absence of
concrete bye-laws in this regard, it is important to facilitate rather
than to make such judgments. I had hoped to accelerate our process by
voting along with the amendment I proposed.

I support such procedure.

Again I understand your concerns. But beyond being concerned, I see no
requirement for the Chair to step in. This is very subjective. We are
all, I hope, capable of maturity, sufficient to balance discussion and
efficiency. I do not want to cede such discretion to the Chair.

I agree that we should move on. Btw, have we decided on how the
membership will vote on the name?

Regards,

Vivek Durai
