The issue here is Consistency, not that Mr. Gupta would stand behind a
person who would want to abolish meaningful participation by users in the
ICANN process.

The fact that Mt Gupta would agree with Mr. Pisanty's views is not
surprising, many would agree with him, but what is surprising is that Mr.
Gupta ran for election to the At Large Panel and was indeed elected, on a
platform that would seem to conflict with the one held by the candidate he
now supports openly for re-election to the ICANN Board.

The request for an explanation of these conflicting views would seem to be
reasonable in my view, and does not constitute any kind of invasion of
privacy or personal attack. Everyone who has been elected must be able to
justify their beliefs and the position they have decided to take to public
who elected them and whom they purport to represent.

Mr. Gupta has no special dispensation in that regard, but if he refuses to
provide the explanation requested of him, then the only logical conclusion
one can make is that he is inconsistent, which is not an attractive quality
in a person.
