Re: [atlarge-discuss] Re:Marc Please respond! to: [atlarge-discuss] Domain Name: icannatlarge.org

A number of our [INEGroup] members do as well. And as I stated
in the previous response on this thread, I called ENOM earlier, they
do not use a lock as a default as Curtis stated.

Second, if you host your own domain, or host it with a different
company than the one you registered it with, locking is rarely
if ever needed. The basic difference that has nothing at all to do
with good business sense as far as ICANNATLARGE.ORG is
concerned is that it didn't resolve part of the time Jefsey
held the registration on ICANNATLARGE.ORG, due to
misconfigured name servers (Non-authoritative - see archives
of this list and the NSLOOKUP on those two Name servers
as well as the zone file using DIG), and that now that Marc
has this DN, it still does not resolve yet it is locked.

Locking the DN helps but does not prevent DN's from being stolen
or inadvertently transferred. They only lock the SRS database entry
for any particular DN. ENOM also lists that information in their
disclaimer indirectly. See:

Now Chris, you will notice that the WHOIS entry for this DN
shows it is protected and that such a protection is not guarenteed.
