I'm afraid I don't keep a running tally of Panel votes -- in fact, I couldn't since I only know as much as the Panel has chosen to share with us.

My nomination was based on some knowledge of his professional background (he's a law professor at the University of Ottawa) and writings on Internet-related matters, plus the fact that he is well-respected here in Canada in relevant circles.

It was my hope that he would be able to help us deal with the mission and bylaws issues in a more organized manner so that we can actually incorporate this organization and do something useful for the "at large" world. Of course, it's up to him to decide whether he can spare the time and wants the job, and to explain to members what he would want to do if elected.

It also occurred to me that somebody should nominate *somebody* before Jefsey closed the nominations on us... not realizing that Jefsey's original posting to [atlarge-discuss] didn't mean non-Panelist members were invited to express their preferences.

As it happens, though Michael Geist did receive a seconder before this was clarified, he has declined to serve as Chair so the whole question is (yet again) purely academic.

Regards,

Judyth
