RE: [atlarge-discuss] Huh? "Unknown host"?

In short:

In November 2002 I was asked by the then panel to host the DNS for the
icannatlarge.org domain.
I was asked to point the website (A & www) to 66.70.226.183

I did so.

Last week I was alerted by I believe Daniel Chirita that the site was
not resolving or gave an errror. Upon looking it gave a 404 no access
error.

The ftp pass we all received did not work anynore either.

Daniel had a download of the site but ex the database (no pass I assume)
and made an error in downloadig the gifs/jpegs ubt the remainder was
there.

I asked Daniel to upload those files to the server I donated to the
icannatlarge.org, which he did, I setup apache accordingly and changed
the DNS files, and it was up again, without the artwork.
I then borrowed the top.gif from the archive site and that is up as well
now.

Daniel then offereed to host a mirror on his server in Miami, which I
gladly accepted (yes we can still use more) and added it to the dns as
www2.icannatlarge.org for the time being.

I then repeatedly asked for backups of the artwork.

Since we are working on a new webcomm I have not done anything with or
to the site, that is not my position to do so.

We are waiting for Sotiris to react to some changes to a motion for the
webcomm once he is receovered from his Montreal trip, once we received
that we will vote on the motion and make a call for people I think or
guess.

As for not finding the host: I can find the arin dbase, however in my
experience it is a long walk to find a particular server if a host has a
/17 which happens to be a hell of a lot of ip-addresses (half a class
B).

I think it is useless to find out who hosts the exact ip we need to know
about that way, it would be far easier if Brett Fauset just told us what
happened.

Kind regards

Abel
