I don't mean to be cantankorus, or maybe I do;-}

It is very important to understand that Outreach incompasses far more than a memership drive, that is akin to sales.  Outreach is an ever prevalant way in which we walk the talk.  It is marketing and advertising and sales and ombudsmanship and tourism.  How we "reach out" to our internet stakeholders even if they are not members is critical.
Outreach includes translation issues and money drives, it includes appointing or electing people to represent us on the outside and then keeping them once they are on the inside.  Try to think of outreach as the entire departments of state and commerce and tourism.

Just from a little guy that did a little work on outreach.

I don't disagree.  Every member should start recruiting.  But I volunteered
to assist Richard in trying to establish some more-formal outreach efforts
at the organization level, including, I hope, some interaction with the
press.
