The trouble with trying to "work with Icann" and bend over backwards to be
reasonable with them (in the unfounded hope of being given some scraps of
influence) is that the At Large constituency has repeatedly tried to be
reasonable with the Icann Board, and the Icann Board has repeatedly ripped
us off. What grounds have we got to believe the good intentions of the Board
which ignored the ALSG and then EXPELLED our democratic representation from
the Boardroom?

I agree with Sotiris that we should regard the ALAC initiative with extreme
scepticism (because the Board is simply using it to try to create
credibility for itself, NOT to enfranchise the At Large community which it
has already so systematically disenfranchised!

Our At Large community (in its multiplicity of forms) needs to grow its own
community 'campus' (as Jefsey puts it) OUTSIDE Icann, and set its own
agendas, and dictate to Icann what it expects - NOT try to "be
reasonable"... which is precisely how Icann wins... as I've said, Icann will
create layer upon layer of labyrinthine processes and committees to keep the
REAL User Community at arm's length from their own seats of power and
influence. "Being reasonable" *within their own rules and processes* is
precisely how the Icann Board would like us to waste our lives away!

If this IcannatLarge.org initiative (still sadly saddled with the ridiclous
Icann name and implicit agenda) is stalling, it is precisely because its
mandate and objectives are too narrow, and appear circumscribed by an Icann
game where we can't win (because THEY make up the rules)... no wonder
people's motivation sometimes wanes.

We need to broaden our vision, broaden our context, and tap into the
feelings and emotions and issues which REALLY matter to people (including
ourselves).

IcannatLarge will not be killed by division (because the At Large is by
nature a multiplicity anyway, and grows by dividing cells). It will be
killed by lack of vision and belief in a movement for the whole world.
