A car accident cannot be responsible for a candidate failing to provide a
contact email address.

It would be a mistake to think this is about removing valid Panel Members
from elected office, when these "candidates" have not publicly accepted
their positions. Do not bestow that honor unless you see a public response
on this list, not to mention that had some minimum qualifying criteria been
set by a competent Polling Committee, they may well not have made it onto
the ballot at all.

Let's remember that the interests of the organization come first, and not
the interests of any particular member. It is within the power of each of
these "candidates" to respond to this list with a single post that takes
less than 5 minutes to produce. If they cannot do that within a reasonable
period of time following the election, for whatever reason, then others are
ready and willing to take their place. That is the right thing to do.

Let's get some perspective on this. This was not a worldwide election with
millions of voters appointing a World Government. It is a very small
organization of some 1000 members, where the number of votes that separate
those that made the Panel from those that followed, is literally a handful.
Get whoever else is needed to make up the 11 on board by first thing Monday
morning, and let's get started on solving the real problems in the real
world, not the ones we are creating for ourselves in some fantasyland.

The purpose of a 5 year disqualification period is not only to limit the
damage from a repeat offender, but also to act as a deterrent to others eye
these elections as a way to enhance their Resume without getting their hands
dirty. And there are quite a few of those around here.
