Fellow concerned ICANN@Large members,

 

As of this moment, the authorization for this “Provisional Membership
Committee” is still uncertain.  It still seems that there are serious
questions with regard to identity verification and certification among
this group as well as among the Panelists-elect.  Also, it seems that
the list to which this message was sent is lacking in composition, which
I correct in my Reply.   I have yet to read where any action has been
undertaken by the Panel-Elect other than the making of Motions, and am
quite certain that it has not even been determined how a Chair for ANY
Committee is to be determined, whether by appointment or by election....
I would tend to agree that the members of Committees could elect a Chair
from among themselves, but I would consider any rotation scheme to be a
ridiculous waste of energies.

 

Previously posted comments have made it clear that a majority would
favor Joe Borda continuing in a Verification & Certification Chair
before any “Membership Committee” could become valid.  I have absolutely
no faith in a mere email statement by ANYONE that the receipt of an
alleged PayPal transaction is sufficient evidence to verify an
individual for purposes of serving on a committee of the potential
importance as either Membership OR Verification & Certification.

 

How many times must we send emails to these supposed characters and
receive no reply before we disallow them as ghosts?  I see no reason
each of the volunteers could not send independent emails asking for a
response, which has in fact been done previously as well....  Perhaps at
least ONE of the messages sent could perhaps receive a response, if not
at least a Delivery/Read Return Receipt?

Good evening, fellow committee members:

 

It is almost 00:00Zulu Saturday. We have a job to do, starting in a few
minutes.

 

I propose an agenda:

 

1) request that members who have a potential conflict of interest excuse
themselves from the Panel verification task.

2) elect a chairperson for the committee

3) determine those Panel members-elect who we know to be real people
from whatever past methods have been used and / or from personal contact
or other verifiable experience.

4) determine the wording to be used in an email to be sent to any
elected Panel members who we do not find verifiable so far, and
immediately send that email to those persons.

5) divide the number of people that need to be contacted, among the
number of committee, members so that by tomorrow morning, we may start
our contact attempts.
