Dear friends,
>>>However, I know that non-German candidates don't have de facto any
chance to get in the two only available places (maybe they had if there
were five or six) ;-)
I hope you are wrong, not just 'cause I'm not German :-) I think that
choose members just looking at their nationality is not a great way to
vote, even if fortunatly every one can choose her/his own principles.
("Cyber Rights List" ist in Italienisch, English und auch DEUTSCH!!! :-)
>>>>The first one is the incredibly high number of candidates, which in my
opinion constitutes a problem.
If there are too many candidates, it becomes difficult to get the minum
number of votes required and for people it's not easy to choose the
candidate to support, but it's freedom. And I think that, anyway, two
people will get the required number of endorsements.
The main problem, for me, is this: two weeks (in the middle of August...
:-) aren't enough to speak with other users and share our opinions. I heard
a lot of opinios, 'cause I care of Netcitizens' opinions from years; but we
have always something to learn, and more time (1 month, from September)
would be better.
Anyway, we have to be concrete and use all the (little!) time we have. The
main reasons 'cause I read most of letters send to this ML but I don't
reply it's why I think that not only our opinions are important, but it's
good to keep in touch with people near and far from our, both.
It's why I was one of the co-founders of the "Cyber Rights List". It's an
independent, unmoderated mailing list. The main topics are the rules for
Domain Registration, and how these can be changed with regard to privacy
and security. Simply put, "Cyber Rights!"
The co-founders of the mailing list are:
Me - Francesco Ravanelli :-)
(http://www.ravanelli.com/ - European candidate for ICANN-At Large board
member)
Liz Bartlett
(http://www.khyri.com/ - American candidate for ICANN-At Large board member)
Amin Amor
(http://www.wait.org/ - African candidate for ICANN-At Large board member)
Sergio Rodriguez-Castillo
(South American candidate for ICANN-At Large board member)
This mailing list was created to be a free zone to communicate with others
about rights of Net citizens, and to influence the choices of the above
mentioned candidates for the ICANN board, if they win the election, or of
other candidates, if they agree to use it.
To join to this mailing list, just send a blank email to
cyber-rights-link-subscribe@egroups.com ; for the opportunity to read and
post opinions about cyber rights, please visit http://www.grauso.co.uk/
Disclaimer: this mailing list is not related to or promoted by ICANN; it
was started by a few candidates as a free enterprise. It's why I think it
will be more useful, in the future, than mailing list which was born just
for ICANN At Large elections.

Francesco Ravanelli
