[ICANN-EU] self-organization / pressure group

I'll try to make this short since I have to catch the train for the
week-end...

My point is that for just providing the European @large director
with input and transparency, we don't need to set up a formal
pressure group with all the problems and costs it implies. For this
purpose, an open mailing list with appropriate infrastructure is
actually better suited. Such a list could easily evolve out of this
one; the infrastructure will remain available and can be improved
even after the elections are over. You could just as well use an
egroups.com list.

In addition to creating an informal @large community, a more formal
pressure group may be reasonable, in order to do all the things
which need full-time work and money, such as:

- organize real-life events
- publicity work
- lobbying
- ...

This pressure group may operate the mailing list, or the list may be
independent from the pressure group. HOWEVER, the pressure group
should only act as some kind of service provide as this point. (Like
FITUG tries to do now for this list.)

(Possibly providing additional funding and services to an @large
director is another topic. This may be placed within the
competences of a pressure group, but I'm not really sure that's the
right way to do things, since it may create conflicts with
potentially other topics persecuted by the pressure group.)

Have a nice week-end!
