I agree, but I'd also leave the number of endorsement reached when
they withdrew, and I'll let them write a short message (let's say 100
or 200 words) explaining their decision and maybe their support for
another candidate, that should be added to their page and sent by
E-mail to their supporters. It is not nice to bother so many known and
unknown people asking them to go and endorse you, and then after a few
days withdraw without any explanation - and this would help
aggregating the votes rationally.
However, I understand that the system should be set up in a short
amount of time. I hope that ICANN can do it.
