This is a real interesting question. Yes I did. Not all of them,
though, I have to admit - English legalese is even more boring
than German one is.

I'm not sure about that. I think consensus isn't hard to reach,
provided you have the right folks in. Maybe we already have too
much diplomats and peace makers in that organization.

Let's do some speculation: what if ? What if Dyson had thrown
the whole pack of intellectual property mafia out of the
process. Put a "leave your lawyer ouside" sign at the door ?

No sane person understands anyway why a trade association of
IP lawyers should have a say in the internet naming process.
Isn't the whole objective of good laws to avoid conflicts and
cost lawyers work ? And will a lawyers association work towards
that goal ?

Dyson's under fire anyway - she would just be under fire
from another side now, where's the differnce ? At least she
would fight for the right thing.

Admittedly hindsight is cheap, but wouldn't we be better of
if Dyson had acquired a principled stand from start on instead
trying to please everyone ?

I think one of the main goals of a sensible DNS reform should
be making clear that trademark law can not and should not be
applied to host names.

Yet Another Lawyer Politician is about the last thing we need.
