The problem is, once they get themselves "in", you cannot get them
out. They are already in ICANN. ICANN let them in by making policies like
the UDRP. Now it is too late. All claims by ICANN that it is merely about
technological issues are ridiculed by a look at its history.
That being so, we need people on the Board who do not pretend that
technology is all that the internet or ICANN is about. The
technology-is-all-and-only people are more likely to just nod "yes" when
lawyers open their mouth. Not out of malice, I'm sure, but perhaps to get
the lawyers out ASAP, so they can go on with their "real" work.
