At all candidates and AT-Large-Members and the ICANN-staff
Hi, all,
a week ago, at 27.8. I´ve written:
I´ts still mysterious to me, as we can bring the nominating process lucky
to
the end. I as a candidate do not have e.g. to today still no letter
with the PIN, so that I ca´nt activate my membership, thus also my
voice to deliver. Andrew was in such a way points to extend the
period to the casting of votes up to 8.9.00 but in addition there was
no alternative in view of the PIN letters probably. I hope only that
we get it that also the 80% of the AT Large members, that did not
deliver yet their voice will still do this to be able. Otherwise to
the problems, which we now already discuss, still another much larger
will come!
Today, I remark that 21.626 of 35.942 members have activated their
membership, but only 6444, eg. 29,80 % have given their endorsement to an
candidate.
This shows either no interest of the members or the wish to wait till 8.9.
But the status of activation seems to be more dramatic. If 6 days before the
end of the endorsements still 14,316 members did not activated their
membership, this shows either no interest at all at the election or these
members have still no possibility to activate their membership!
I myself as a candidate have got till today no letter with the PIN!! And I
may ask Andrew and the ICANN-staff, if you are sure that all members will
get their PIN in time to have the possibility to give their endorsements
till 8.9.00???
Otherwise there will be some members who will claim their member rights.
I repeat my former proposition that ICANN, respective the At Large members
should create clear and simple rules for example for the election procedure.
Let us at least start a discussion about this. I´ts not only the ICANN-staff
who has to decide all.
I think time is ready for creating a council, an at-large council where all
candidates and members who want to participate should find a way which all
of us can satisfy.
The At large-members have the right to do more than only give once their
endorsement.
At least we should continue our present open mailing lists for the time
after the election in October.
I notice a large engagement of all participations in this ML. We must use
this positive tendency, in order to activate durably all members and in the
future to have thus for those to appropriate decisions a broad foundation.
That is nevertheless our actual goal.
Best regards to all
