I like this idea. A year is a long time to get stuck with an ineffective
Chair. How about 6 months with a commitment to run an election of the whole
membership after that time? In the meantime, the panel will vote one in
within the next few days, because they are your elected representatives and
have a mandate to give this ship a rudder and some sails.


My comments would also hold true for an Alt Chair

A Vice-Chair is not an option, it's crucial to the survival of the
organization. Nobody should be indispensable. Anybody can evaporate for all
manner of reasons. What concerns me is that we do not force two conflicting
personalities to work together, which would be counter-productive. We need
mutual consent between Chair and Vice-Chair *in advance* of asking them to
take on these roles. Consider it a marriage of sorts.
