This depends on who's etiquette you are referring to.

I have never considered TYPE IN CAPS as shouting. I know
very few reasonable people that do as well. I also might ask here,
in that you just used caps, were you intending to shout in this
remark? My guess is that you were not. Hence I hope that
this point is now moot...

Acknowledgment by whom? What sort of acknowledgment
do you suggest, require, or desire?

I have heard and been ask to do the opposite on this myself so many
times I cannot give you and accurate count. I also fine this as being
a bit extreme as well in some circumstances as well. Sometimes
it is necessary to follow the thread well to have all of the previous
responses included so as to not misunderstand, or also to be
misunderstood or misinterpreted.

This is 2002. The net she is a changing Walter. Hence such practices
from 1974 no longer apply. Some of them were good than, but aren't now.
For instance to make a comparison, I don't drive a 1974 automobile regularly,
but I own one that is a 1969 as a collector. So to go along with such
notions in 2002 as were acceptable or practiced in 1974 would of course
be inadequate in the extreme perhaps... ??? >;)

Moderation is sometimes needed. Various forms of moderation
for mature lists are necessary. A list poll is in no way abusive
to me. So far Walter, you are the only one that has taken issue
with Judyth's list poll. Hence as I stated in my previous post,
perhaps you should seriously consider using a filter or the delete
key more prodigiously. >;)

Exactly right! >;) And this list is that very forum. Hence it would
seem that such a poll as Judyth posted is appropriate in this context.

Ah, but there is no way that that type of poll would be one that every
forum list member could access necessarily.
