RE: [atlarge-discuss] A question for the candidates

Well I guess the answer should be subsidiarity. My experience is based on
international law organizations with branches in 150 States and with more
the 10.000 members worldwide. An unique discussion list is craziness. Why
not structure the at-large in branches. Each branch has its own discussions.
And only questions which are common and global will be addressed to a unique
list. And only the branches' representative may express himself in the list.
Up to the branches to organize themselves and elect the right
representative, and in case his narrow/wide liberty to take position in the
main list.

Subject: [atlarge-discuss] A question for the candidates

To the 26 candidates for the Panel listed below, I address a
single question
whose answer will importantly affect my vote:

		  Asaad Alnajjar (Asia/Pacific-United States)
		  Thierry Amoussougbo (Africa-Benin)
		 *Hugh Blair (North America-United States)
		  Daniel Chirita (Europe-France)
		  Kristen Doyle (North America-United States)
		  David Goldstein (Asia/Pacific-United Kingdom)
		  James Graham (Europe-Mexico)
		  Catherine Hughes (North America-United States)
		  William Jones (North America-United States)
		  Sebastian Klein (Europe-Germany)
Curtis M Kularski (North America-United States)
		  Gilbert Lumantao (Asia/Pacific-Philippines)
+Ivonne Valeria Mu)? Torres (South America-Mexico)
		  Pierre Ouedraogo (Africa-France, Metropolitan)
		  Dominic Pinto (Europe-United Kingdom)
		  Mark Poole (North America-United States)
		  Andre Rebentisch (Europe-Germany)
		  Mauro Demian Rios (South America-Uruguay)
		  Jonathan Robin (Europe-France)
		  Maniam S (Asia/Pacific-Singapore)
		  Paustinus Siburian (Asia/Pacific-Indonesia)
		  Sotiris Sotiropoulos (North America-Canada)
		 *Johannes J Teernstra (Asia/Pacific-New Zealand)
		  Daniel Tobias (North America-United States)
		  James Voorhees (-United States)
		 *Abel Wisman (Europe-United Kingdom)

		* = Question posed previously, response received.
+ = Question posed previously, response awaited.

		The question follows:

How would you, as a Panelist, act to raise the level of
discourse among
the icannatlarge membership, and between the membership and
its elected
		officers?

This unmoderated mailing list has served as our principal
channel of
communication, but is flawed, in both obvious and subtle
ways. I personally
believe (without estimating the numbers) that some persons
who could have
been valuable contributors have been driven away, or lost
patience.

Joop's forum has its attractions, but is more demanding on
the user, is less
universally accessible, and for whatever reason has never
gained a "critical
		mass" of regular correspondents.

You may reply here, or on your website. If the latter,
would you please
leave a very brief post on this mailing list indicating that
you have done
		so?
