Serving in that Committee is hard, much harder than just repeating slogans
and principle declarations. I have to renounce to a part of my freedom to
come to a compromise that will be accepted by all involved parties - and I
have to do it in a way that is acceptable to my conscience. But still I
think that that is the place where you have to be if you want to save any
kind of openness and accountability, even if limited, for the foreseeable
future.

I hope I'll be proven wrong - I hope that the DoC or whoever else stands up
and forces ICANN to revert to the original At Large plan. But I do not want
to give up trying, as I know that the chances of a sudden change of scenario
are minimal, and that by giving up we will only get even less openness and
less accountability.

(Of course all of this is IMHO.)
