[atlarge-discuss] The Media's take on the ALAC proposals

Help

The Washington Internet Daily reports:

The at-large panel floated proposals "aimed at giving Internet users A STRONGER VOICE in ICANN";

This was a starting point  from which to "phase in MORE USER PARTICIPATION";

and that to participate in the ALAC member election process, Regional AtLarge organisations would each have to sign a memorandum of understanding with ICANN

How is abolishing ICANN @ large Directors giving users a "Stronger Voice"?

How is abolishing ICANN @ large Directors "phasing in MORE user participation"?

And of course the "ALAC member election process" is NOT to elect a Board member?

De-SPIN the whole thing, and what's the reality:

Internet Users have a WEAKER voice and LESS user participation.

What's disappointing is that the media are reporting it as PROGRESS - exactly what ICANN intended.
