How unfortunate for these poor souls just to work for minimum wage
to be forced/required to sign such and oath. :(

But it should also not be surprising to know, that as an retired
Marine Officer, I too was required to swear a similar oath (Without
the reference to California of course)...
Yes, military officers are among many classes of people who must take similar oaths. Though I have never been a government attorney, I took that exact oath when I was admitted to practice in CA, and I did not believe it to be inappropriate - as an officer of the Court (all attorneys are), I have certain powers that pro se litigants do not have - but that's rather different from a minimum wage busboy. As I indicated, my problem is not with the oath per se, but rather that the set of people required to take it is far too large and broad.

And that is also my problem with Danny's proposed vow, which has different wording. Without regard to whether elected officers/directors of this org should be required to make some sort of pledge, applying Danny's vow as a requirement for all members clearly is overbroad. Either people will vow falsely just to join, not a good thing, or people won't join because it (or anything likes it) is too uncomfortable for them, also a bad thing.
