Re: [atlarge-discuss] web page

Dear Hans,
I would suggest that we keep the Panel's controversies within the Panel when they do not help the debate. We succeded in doing it so far. There is nothng hidden since the archives are here. But this gives a feeling of unstability. I think no one is opposed to your push for something being made before Shanghhai but this is too "Staff last minute like" for me, as for Jamie and I suppose others.

When a candidate to the BoD one of my point was that I will oppose everything I have not had the time to read and to think over. As such I oppose everything you proposed except one: to elect a Chair asap. This will give all of us the time to think over.

I copy this to the list so everyone knows where we stand, that there is no particular dispute, that we have agreed upon a way to settle the current difficulty we meet; and it does not happen agan.

Bret,

We have been making reasonably good progress on the Panel. Most people have been making fairly constructive comments, and a number of people are not objecting. Jamie is clearly upset, but he seems to be alone in this, and I keep trying to address his substantive concerns.

The most important thing to put on the web page will be the announcement of the meeting we are sponsoring in Shanghai. We will need to announce that today and to post the announcement on the list today.

I agree with putting up your two non-controversial items as well.

That leaves the draft bylaws and the draft mission statement. How do people on this list feel about posting those documents?

Why don't we keep it simple? I see no reason to present anything even
remotely controversial on the homepage. Of the four headline boxes, I would
recommend that 1 and 4 present information like:

(1) Headline: What is ICANNAtLarge.org?

(4) Headline: Join and Participate in ICANNatLarge.org.

Use (2) and (3) to highlight current developments. (2) might be a link to a
press release about Shanghai. (3) might be a link to the names and countries
of residence of the elected panel members.

P.S. I'm not going to post anything absent instruction from someone
official. Who might that person be? The entire panel or the head of the web
site working group?
