Re: [atlarge-discuss] Another lawsuit against ICANN, to stop WLS

Sotiris,

provider, she would lose out to whoever used the insider service as a
 matter of course. >>

Perhaps it's time to let auntie know that in an expanded namespace
"desirability of names" won't be an issue. Hyping a back-order product only serves to
promote the .com namespace and that is not in anyone's best long-term interest.
Focus instead on getting new domain name extensions released -- that would
allow for anyone's aunt to secure "desirable" domain names (although I no
longer see "desirability" being a significant factor -- since search engines don't
care what character string or extensions you have, hot names are rapidly
becoming a myth as content is being found by other means than sticking a domain
name into the browser).

The aftermarket is diminishing in importance. This seems to be one last
attempt to cash in on what remains of a failing market. I see no particularly
strong reason to promote back-order services either by VeriSign or others when an
expanded namespace awaits.
