Re: [atlarge-discuss] Fw: Athentication

Methinks it's time to boot Mr. Jeff Williams once and for all. This is appalling.

Jeff,

I'm sorry I really don't understand what is going on here and don't know what "I've forgotten in my busy schedule." I am on
the ISC list
but frankly filter those messages and look at them once in a blue moon, of it something specific comes up.

What I'm saying is that I don't believe that I ever wrote
or sent you
or anyone else the following text:

|> Jeff,
|>
|> Thank you and your members of your organization for
aiding in the
|> development and furtherance of the developing standard
required by

I don't think I have a dog in this fight, whatever it is, but I am Bill Burr, the manager of the NIST security Technology
Group and I did
not

write

this, it makes no sense to me, it's not my style at all,
and I simply
do not close anything with "Kindly".

I can confirm that did send the July 11 message Subject: E-Authentication Policy Guidance, which you reference to my pki-twg group.

Ron, Bill and all fellow members,

The letter I sent to this list was sent to me only a

via the ABA list discussing these issues as seperate response from ST-ISC@MAIL.ABANET.ORG of which was forwarded by one of the list members. as follows:
(So perhaps Bill has forgotten in his busy schedual I left out
his Email address in my original post in order to protect

All @Large members:

I am sure a number of you felt that the message
forwarded to
the discuss list by Jeff Williams, and which he claimed was written by Bill Burr, was couched in the same grammatically deficient terms as Jeff's own messages.

I was concerned enough that this was a fake letter, that I emailed Bill Burr and asked him to authenticate it.

This reply from Bill Burr is self explanatory.

Mr. Sherwood,

I have no idea where what you forwarded came from. But
not from
me. It's the first time I've ever seen it. I've never signed anything "kindly" in my life. I don't understand the
context at
all.

There is some doubt among our membership concerning the following excerpt from a message delivered by one Jeff Williams and which is attributed to you.

Please will you verify (or otherwise) that you did, indeed, author this message to Jeff Williams.

Many thanks in advance for taking the time to respond this request.

Yours sincerely, Ron Sherwood
