Florian,
I appreciate your effort for Jeannette and I think she might be a
very good european director.
However, I think two things are unfortunate (I am non-German):
- the number of german voters which unbalances the election: the
subjects of current concern in Germany are more discussed than
others, making our future director elected on less substanciated
grounds than what the European experience should bring to the
internet governance: the Minitel that Judge Green of the FCC
used as a society model for internet, the Cyclades/Euronet and
ESA which are older operations than ARPAnet, 20 years of
interconnections between different countries, etc...
- I like Jeannette's pragamatic approach and her capacity to see
the real world internet belongs to. But... I am worried that - as you
said - her site is in german. Karl Auerbach has not a line about us
(international). This makes our two best candidates show they are
not particularly muti-cultural. This is of concern to me: IMHO all
the question discussed on this ML would be addressed otherwise
and more efficiently should we realize that Internet, technically and
administratively, does not exist as such but is an interconnection
of independent networks of various culture, languages (cf. the
NSI intl names problem), economical powers and interests,
nations, religions, technical level, etc..
