I don't think this is a good idea. First of all, archives can and
should be centralized. Additionally, traditional quoting and
threading mechanisms are there for a reason. Having to follow links
means an interruption to the flow of reading and possibly writing,
and adds unnecessary overhead when trying to follow arguments.

This is almost equivalent to "use short, descriptive subject
headers". Don't expect too much from it.
