Re: [ICANN-EU] Im am sorry, this list is too noisy.

Dear Alf,
I think there is only one alternative:

- either the @large concept, inherited from Karl Auerbach can
develop in the ICANN and disseminate in other areas of the
internet governance, as a representation of the users parallel
to a representation of the structures [corporations, lobbies,
governments, ...] what we progressively see in all the developped
countries BoDs. I note that this is the sprit and the letter of the
by laws. The ICANN is a common service to all the users, the
   real boss are the users.

In this case the ICANN has a real use, a support, and will last.
We may discuss and solve in common the TLD issue and start
working on a smart approach of the IP addressing scheme in
the best interest of every one and to reduce costs.

- or the ICANN misses the point and tries to control its @large
constituency as it did with the DNSO. This will result in the
continuation of the petty current waring at user level and a
lack of user support when ICANN will have to confront the
diverging large corporation interests. This is a continuation of
the current disrespect of the by laws and to some extent of its
charter. The ICANN wants to becomes a stand alone world
governance of the Internet. The real boss are the lobbies.

In this case all the treated inequal interests will develop
alternatives to the ICANN while large interest will take control
of it. ICANN will may be survive 2001 (?). Tensions will stay
concerning TLDs, the IP scheme will not be treated seriously
with a dramatic cost increase for many new services and
   innovations.

We have a well known tale in French poestry about the
Frog which wanted to be a Bull.

The decision fork is now. I read your mail as a support to the second
part of the alternative as a "peace and order" option. As if the
icann-europe ML was only for you a tool to be elected.

Do not be dismayed. The list wants now to be a tool to work and
build. The challenging part is now.
