It does highlight my point. Generally, I agree that the ICANN was supposed
to be a names conflict mediation point. At MDR, I personally witnessed the
death of that ideal. Mediators are not supposed to intentionally introduce
conflict. That breaks mediation, neh? US/DOC went along with that, this
shows tacit approval, by the USG, of ICANN activity. Ergo, ICANN is
definitely NOT a mediation body. Neither is it an International body, or
they would not stop at USG/DOC approval. They are acting like a regulatory
agency, like the FCC, but without US Congress approval. Worse, they are
privately held.

If EU wants to setup its own root zone servers and registry then they should
call me, before the noose gets too tight to slip out of. We need a true
international names mediation body and not the US farce that ICANN has
become. For one, I'm getting a little tired of being the window dressing for
the ICANN dog and pony show.
