Is it just me, or does the tone and style of debate in here
seem a bit childish and puerile much of the time?
I know I've been lurking here from the start, and from time
to time I've tried to see what gets debated in the various
threads. Unfortunately it mostly seems to be just a few people
making fearful allegations, often with gratuitous sexual
imagery.
I accept that I have not coonducted a scientific study,
and the garbage I've seen may not be representative of
the list as a whole. But I suspect that many would-be
members and supporters will be put off by this sort
of abusive carry on.
Perhaps the saddest thing is that these rantings actually
obscure what are the issues (however much they may
relieve the feelings of the authors). It's the worst form
of self-gratification, and harms the aims of the organisation.
I don't want to get into a debate on censorship (it always
generates more heat than light), but I could wish that the
signal to noise ratio in here were higher.
Then, maybe, I could understand some of the issues
a little better.
regards and apologies,
Paul
