In the ALOC, support for including a statement in favor of direct elections 
came from:
         Peter Shane
         Izumi Aizu
         Hans Klein
         Sotiris Sotiropoulos
         Vittorio Bertola

On the other hand, in the face of Esther and Denise's comments, discussion 
has ceased. Or maybe it just moved to a more inner circle!  ;-)
