Re: [atlarge-discuss] Poll watcher rights and duties

Not a problem.
But somebody has to get paid for the programming or do it for free out of
enthousiasm.
Perhaps a volunteer member can program this function into a special site
to where the voters can be directed with a link.
especially if
the voter had the option of e-mailing back the ballot if
for some reason the "Submit" command didn't work.
That does not sound too difficult too and something that trusted watchers
could take care of manually, as long as the numbers remain small. It will
be necessary for the system to produce a passwords list, for the watchers'
reference, which weakens the security. Otherwise easy enough to do.
Thanks for the positive attitude.
What, besides your main objection, are your other objections?
>Disagree if you like, but respect the will of the majority.
I do. I'm just not persuaded that a majority of the 10% who
participated in your poll represents a majority of the
membership of ICANNATLARGE.ORG,
They represent the majority, if not all, I think, of those who are
interested enough to vote.
or that the polls you chose
to run (with or without the advice of a few members) are in
any way binding on the group which did not get a chance to
amend or ratify the questions.
But they do get that chance. That is what the comment line on the ballot
form is for.
That is why it is so important to read and discuss each of these comments
and use them for building our Charter.
Please take the time to read them (you can copy them from the website and
read them offline) or copy some of these comments here on this list.
www.icannatlarge.com/voting.htm
The website(s) of icannatlarge are a much bigger presence than this discuss
list and its unknown subscribers.
That shows in the comments.
BTW, I have taken the trouble last week to give www.icannatlarge.com a
good facelift.
The site has been renamed to "the icannatlarge.community"
"Icann members" has been changed to "members" and the signup no longer
re-directs to Vittorio's site.
(comments on the work in the website Forum are welcome)
The members list on the icannatlarge.com site is there as a list of people
who signed up before november 17, 2002 and after April 7, 2003 for an
icannatlarge organizing effort that is still undefined.
It is not a members' list of "icannatlarge.com" as there is no such
organization.
It is a transparent community with a transparent community Forum.
Pictures, reports , straw-polls, articles and candidate statements can be
uploaded by any member into the forum. The webmaster is responsive to
grassroots requests. (the "icann members" thing was one such request).
This is how democracy progresses out of feodalism.
Do you know another way?
